Established in 1991 by animal welfare advocate, April Brown, Whisker City is an advocacy and rescue organization that is dedicated to protecting the lives and interests of unwanted cats. We are committed to rescuing and rehabilitating abused, neglected and abandoned felines. This small, homey, free-roaming sanctuary located in Shoreline, Washington offers a new beginning and safe refuge for cats and kittens that need temporary housing until they are adopted and permanent housing if they are never chosen. At Whisker City, we believe in never placing a time limit on any animal in our care, that no healthy or rehabilitated pet should be euthanized, that the key to pet overpopulation is sterilization and that education can prevent cruelty, abuse and neglect, and promote responsible pet ownership.

Whisker City is a small rescue organization that houses an average of 55 cats at a time, providing them with veterinary care, emergency surgeries, spay and neuters, along with food, shelter and love. We receive no federal or state funding and rely on the generosity of the community to help care for abused, abandoned, and neglected cats. At Whisker City, we are committed to adapting our rescue to meet everchanging needs. A donation from 100 Women Who Care will allow us to:

  • Purchase more cages, so that we can expand the capacity of the number of cats we can intake at any one given time. We are often the last resort for many owner surrenders and often end up with the cats that other shelters deem unadoptable.

  • Provide comprehensive access to medical treatment at the onset of illnesses.

  • Spay and neuter as soon as cats and kittens are cleared for surgery.

  • Rescue even more cats that are in need.

  • Work with surrounding overcrowded shelters to transfer cats into our care.

Your support of Whisker City is deeply appreciated and will help us in our mission of rescuing and rehabilitating abused, neglected and abandoned felines. By choosing to give to Whisker City, you are choosing to offer a new beginning and safe place for countless cats and kittens in need.
