Q:Please share a brief Description of mission, objectives and community served:
A: To transport our Western Washington WWII, Korean and Vietnam veteran heroes on “One Last Mission”, a trip to Washington DC to visit and reflect at the memorials built in their honor. This trip is free to the veteran and made possible only through individual donations and corporate support. No federal funds are allocated to this program.
Q: Please provide information regarding the demographics of the people you serve, including race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, education, income level, etc.:
A: Any Western Washington veteran that has worn the uniform of the US military is eligible. We prioritize by conflict served (due to age) and then by post-mark date. Any veteran that is determined to have a terminal illness and still medically able to travel are prioritized to the top of the list.
Q: Organization Size (number of paid staff and volunteers):
A: All volunteer staff. Our working board is made up of 16 members that do the core of the planning and work for these trips, but we are also dependent upon many volunteers to make the many aspects of the trip work. These include (but not limited to), active duty military, Patriot Guard, guardians to assist as needed, medical, photography and DC volunteers as well. None of our staff/volunteers are paid. All donations go solely to fund our veteran trips.
Q: Please provide a summary of your budget for the current fiscal year:
A: Total budget: Because of COVID, we have not been able to travel so far. If we are able to make our three fall trips, budget would be approximately $180,000 ($1000 per veteran). Normally we make 4-6 trips per year.
Total income: Approximately $150,000 for 2020
Total expenses: We have not been able to travel, so expenses are close to nothing since 2020. We have a waitlist of just over 700 veterans and the cost is $1000 per veteran to send them on a trip. Once we are allowed to travel again (hoping fall 2021), we will be playing “catch-up” and trying to make six trips per year which would be expenses of approximately $360,000.
Q: What is the breakdown of your income sources (percentage received from individuals, corporations, foundations, government, earned income, etc.)?
A: 75% from corporations, 5% from foundations, 10% from civic organizations (such as yours, VFWs, Eagles, etc.) and 10% individual donations. No government funding.
Q: How will you use our $10,000 donation? Please be specific, for example:
A: Your generous donation will sponsor 10-12 Seattle area veterans to make their cathartic journey.
