Parent Trust (www.parenttrust.org) is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect. Our goal is a world where every parent can access the support and resources they need - a world where families are strong – and no child ever needs to enter foster care. We serve 15,000 people every year and specialize in breaking down barriers for underserved populations -- parents recovering from substance addiction, parents with low income and parents who lived through child abuse and neglect as children: families who often fall through the cracks. Partnerships and funding from community-based organizations like 100 Women Who Care Seattle are crucial for us – especially now as we face the challenges posed by the global pandemic. We need your help to keep kids safe. You can learn more about all we are doing on our website at https://www.parenttrust.org/coronavirus/.
COVID-19 has changed everything for the families we serve. Calls to our Family Help Line have increased exponentially – and parents are under more stress and more isolated than ever. Families need your help TODAY – before their lives spiral out of control. Parent Trust’s research-based programs prevent child abuse and neglect by ending the transmission of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) from one generation to the next.
A gift of $10,000 from 100 Women Who Care Seattle would ensure that 40 pregnant families with low income will have the support and education they need during the critical first year of their child’s life -- online new parent classes, our Zoom postpartum and developmental screenings, and customized parent coaching over the phone. Investing in child abuse prevention today will keep the pandemic from hurting our most vulnerable families for decades to come.
