2019 Donations

October 2019 - $11,750 + $1000+ in Matching Gift Funds

Our 14th donation: Jubilee Women’s Center

Our donation will support women in Jubilee’s two-year residential program that provides affordable community housing, holistic support services, on-site care managers, learning opportunities, and a focus on employment preparation to advance each woman on her path out of poverty.

Our donation will provide housing + services for one woman for 11 months, OR housing + services for 11 women for one month. Kiri, the Development Coordinator said, “either way you slice it, that is quite an amazing impact, and we can’t thank you all enough for choosing to invest in the women of Jubilee!”

Our 13th donation: Friends of Seward Park

The all-volunteer Friends of Seward Park works to preserve the unique habitat and cultural legacy of this historic park and its one hundred acres of rare old-growth forest. For five years a group of citizens and volunteer scientists associated with Seward have struggled to understand the tragic die-off of sword ferns in Seward’s Magnificent Forest. The ferns are a dominant and crucial under-story plant whose loss poses a grave threat to the overall health of the forest. Countless volunteer hours of lab and field work have not identified the cause, but outreach throughout the Puget Sound has taught us that the die-off is now regional - and a spreading - phenomenon.
