October 2016 - $3,500
Our fifth donation: Major Taylor Project (Cascade Bicycle Club)
The Major Taylor Project (MTP) is a year-round, youth development cycling program produced by the Cascade Bicycle Club Diversity and Inclusion department, integrating bicycling, healthy living, bicycle maintenance, road safety awareness and the importance of working toward individual goals. MTP uses the bicycle to help students expand their worldview and encourages them to explore the ability they have to change themselves and their communities.
Our donation will provide bikes to children without the means or opportunity to learn, play, and explore the world on a bike.
June 2016 - $3,800
Our fourth donation: West Seattle Food Bank - Backpack Program
We started the Backpack Program, to ensure that all children in our community have the healthy and nutritious food they need to grow strong in body and mind. The Backpack Program provides food for the weekend when other programs are not available.
At its peak during the 2015/2016 school year, the program served as many as 300 students per weekend.
Our donation will provide much needed funds for the program as they prepare for the new school year in the fall.
Feb 2016 - $1,800
Our third donation: Homeward Pet Adoption Center
Homeward Pet Adoption Center is one of the leading non-profit, no-kill animal shelters in Washington State. Our mission is to give homeless animals a second chance through rescue, shelter and adoption.
Located in Woodinville, Homeward Pet finds new homes for over 1600 cats and dogs, puppies and kittens every year. We are dedicated to providing excellent care to our animals, and great service to our two-legged visitors.
We rely completely on donor support to help us provide food, shelter, vet care and more to each homeless cat or dog in our care. Over 75% of every dollar donated goes to the care of our animals.
